Another late night at the office

If you were to check a traffic website which estimated your drive to take 2 hours with the current levels of traffic and you didn't really HAVE to be home at any given time, would you:

A: Get on the road and just sit in the traffic hoping that the traffic website was all wrong?
B: Wait and hope it'll lighten up soon, so that you don't have to waste all of that gas and aggravate your nerves, and spend some quality time with the Internet?
C: Hunker down for a really late night at the office and get all of those little nagging tasks done and maybe even get a good chunk of a big nasty project done, while eating whatever snacks you have stocked your cube with, with the hopes that traffic will totally go away before you start nodding off?

So yea, I'm bitching about my commute YET AGAIN! It's after 7pm and our local traffic website is all full of red and black lines on my route home. Even my alternate routes, which are way out of the way, are really gross looking. There are a ton of accidents because people just can't NOT run into each other (you aren't driving bumper cars people!) and CalTrans, the California Transportation Agency, has somehow come into lots and lots of money or they are trying to dry up their budgets before the end of the year because they have suddenly decided to resurface ALL of the freeways up here simultaneously. BRILLIANT!

Even though I have been wanting to stop this blog from being a bitch fest (yes I realize the majority of my posts are complaining about something or another), it just seems like the negativity keeps rising to the surface at about the time I have a touch of time to write a post. I do hope I can stop bitching. I really don't like to be thought of as a bitchy person.

Ommmmm. Ommmmmm.

Oh! Sweet! I just realized that I have workout clothes here AND our office recently turned a conference room into a gym. I forgot my iPod though, so I'll just have to workout with my thoughts. Maybe I'll step my way through the negativity.

You are just releasing negativity! Better than bringing it home to your husband!
Maybe it's a sign you should move!

As a guy who watches/report traffic in the Bay Area, I'm just glad I don't have to be in the thick of it M-F.

It's very healthy to vent!!!! Don't keep that stuff in, it's dangerous. As for the new gym at work, COOL! Too bad you forgot your iPod though. I'll send you some virtual tunes. :)

Vent away, sista! It's good for you! ;) Love that your workplace has a gym! Very cool! For me, the best way to get out my frustrations is to play squash! There's nothing better than releasing stress like whacking the crap out of ball with a funny looking racquet! LOL!

(Since we don't have any squash courts on the island, I have to resort to splitting firewood! LOL!)

Being stuck in traffic is the worst! When I had a long commute Ian would always open the door with extreme caution if he got home after me... wife most foul I would be.
I find after construction, even if they're widening the roads or adding more, the cars keep coming and there seems zero improvement.
Hey, do I sound a bit negative too?
Exercise is good to get all the stress out. As is blogging :)

Hmmm...did the traffic have anything to do with the container ship that bumped the bridge yesterday and spewed a bunch of oil all over the place? Doesn't seem like it would be, since that was early, and you wrote this late.

Commuting sucks. I feel for you.

Bummer, Cherry!

I hate commuting in rush hour traffic, too. Don't worry, you don't sound like a bitch-fest. Besides, part of the beauty of blogging is having a place to let it out!

I often will find something to occupy my time with to avoid a rush hour commute.

Having the gym there is a great way to do something good for yourself while avoiding the highways.

Can you go back to the train commute? At least you could knit, read, blog while you're commuting!

I don't blame you for being upset about the traffic! It would put anyone in a bad mood.

Okay, you are going to think I'm crazy, but coming from a mom that is home 24/7, homeschools her kids and rarely takes time for herself? This sounds like heaven. Either sitting in a car or sitting in an office or working out at the office gym? All 3 options = silence and time to grasp a thought before it leaves your head!! I know, I know, we all want what we don't have - but I'll take option 'C' with a workout.

Sorry about the traffic though - that WOULD drive me nuts day in and day out.

Have a good one.
