A Call for Suggestions

Next week will begin what may be the most boring weeks I have spent for a long time. I mean, who doesn't want the opportunity to take off from work for up to 6 weeks, and to be told to not lift anything, don't drive, to lay there, to relax, to sit about like a lazy log and don't really do anything, ...oh and here are some narcotics to take on top of the not doing anything. Oh sure, sounds swell. But I'm a girl who needs to keep busy and to stay in control. Right when I can't, is when I want to take on the world. Yes, yes, some blues has been keeping me glued to the couch for a long time now, but I am so sick of it. I wanna get back out and do stuff. Go dancing, ride a bike, go backpacking, travel, oh just to get out of the stinking house (which sometimes I do think is stinky! I did mention I have cats... and a husband.)

So, since I can't conquer the world right away, I'm asking you, my blogging buddies, to share with me your wisdom, your experiences, and your knowledge of the world of books, movies, easy crafty things, and nice to your body activities.

I am making a list of books for the library. I'm bulking up our Netflix queue and bumping up the account to have more movies at a time. I am looking for knitting patterns to use up my stash. I will want to cook and bake, but I'm not supposed to lift more then 5 pounds so any light ideas are welcome (we'll see how long I stick to that rule. A bored girl craves cream cheese frosting and will need something to spread it on!). I may even FINALLY make some changes to the design of this blog.

Any suggestions will be gratefully accepted with an open mind and heart. I have a feeling, my laptop will be my best friend over the next month or so.

I say get all hooked on "Lost", you've got time. And no baking for you...follow the doctor's rules, and you'll heal faster, I promise. You could send E out to a bakery to bring you yummy treats, though...or your friends. :)

As for books, remember that magazines might be the way to go until you're off the narcotics...short attention span I'm thinking.

One of the most brilliant comedies that was only on the air for a season and a half was Arrested Development. Definitely Netflix both seasons. They are ingeniously written and acted, and it's just so sad that it didn't last longer. The episodes are HILARIOUS and witty, and they'll keep you entertained for sure! My former roommate and I watched them together, and as soon as one episode ended, we were like, "Okay...just one more episode", and then we'd be up til all hours addicted to the show.

Oh my gosh! When you mentioned cream cheese frosting, all I could think about was a deliciously moist carrot cake! LOL! I agree with J though. Follow the doctor's orders and you'll heal faster. Maybe you can start a new tradition of having E going out and bringing you back a new treat each time! Tee hee! That sounds exciting. I can think of pretty things like Mille Feuilles and tiramisu cups...What fun!

Cherry, did I tell you that we now have 5 kittens in the house that are already trying to climb up stairs???? That means we've got a dog, two cats and five kittens!! Oh, and about a hundred head of cattle! OMG!

Think of all the books you've meant to read and all the movies and tv shows you meant to watch. Rent them all and watch! Also, cardmaking is fun. You can make great gift sets.

Sewing? Now when was the last time you said hi to your sewing machine?Hmmm, but what to sew? I guess that's for you to figure out. You could always sell something on ebay!:)
Do you have an address book that needs an overhaul? Piles of catalogs and mail? Junk drawers that need to be cleaned out?
Shopping online?(my personal favorite)
Photo organizing?
Scrapbooking?
painting?(not the walls!)
I'll post later if I think of more!

Everyone made some GREAT suggestions. But, most importantly, please take it easy so you can heal fast!

I just got done reading "Family History" by Dani Shapiro. It was a whim pick up and is a tear jerker, but a good read. As I am frequently laid up, my husband bought me an old leather journal and I sometimes find that writing longhand there makes the time fly. Please take care and feel bunches better too.

Start cooking now and put stuff in the freezer, cause you will not feel like cooking for a while, and take out gets old.
