Yadda Yadda Yadda, Wedding, blah blah blah...
So being the non-girly girl I am who wears very little make-up, if any, I have gone a little overboard on how I'm going to look on the day of my wedding.
I have been getting facials. I have been buying expensive products. I have even scheduled to have eyelash extensions so I can cry without the mascara running down my face.
The most stupid move I made was to try to lighten the spots I have on my left cheek (I drive a lot and have more sun damage on that side then the right), and to lessen the frequency of millia popping up. My millia tend to stick around for at least 6 months, so if I could stop them from forming and could even speed up the healing of those I already have, I thought it would be great to do this before the wedding!
SO DUMB!
Now I have a rash everywhere I put these new products (mainly AHA creams) I bought to reduce the stupid little white bumps and the barely noticable brown spots (well I see them, but most people wouldn't say they were any big deal). I'm assuming that the rash is due to the creams, but it could also be a combination of some planning stress and the creams.
So now I'm itchy, and my previously pretty smooth skin is all bumpy and it's spreading. BRILLIANT!
Do I sound Bridezilla'ish now? I'm starting to feel it. Stupid vanity!

Ohhhhhhhh Cherry!!! Sorry to hear about your reaction to the new products! I have very sensitive skin and I am scared to try new products! LOL! I also tend to break out when I get stressed or nervous! All those put together = trouble on my wedding day! LOL! I ended up with a HUGE zit on the big day! Luckily, my make up girl did a wonderful job!
She used CoverFX for covering all my freckles and sun spots (grrr) and it did the job! I am very pleased with CoverFX and would recommend it to anyone!
PS. I think it's neat that you're getting eyelash extensions! I never thought of that! My make up girl used EVERYTHING waterproof on me...including waterproof mascara, because I'm a cry baby! I bawled when my husband said his vows and even with waterproof mascara, I had crazy, ugly black streaks streaming down my cheeks! OMG! Luckily, my maid of honor was right there with the tissue, wiping my streaks! LOL! OMG!
Can't wait to hear more about the wedding prep! This is such an exciting time for you!!!
Oh, Cherry! If your skin is reacting with an itchy rash, I think I would discontinue use pronto. I bet it will clear up in plenty of time for the wedding. No matter what, you are and will be a BEAUTIFUL bride because you are a beautiful woman. :) very photogenic, too!
Cherry - I love your name by the way - I came by your great blog via my blog buddy Chrissy - first of all, I'm so excited for your upcoming nuptials. Congratulations!Secondly, I feel so badly for your rash/itch thing. Don't be too hard on yourself - it's one of the happiest, but most stressful events in your life, so this type of thing is not uncommon. It probably is a combination of stress and new product.
Chrissy's reco of CoverFX is a good one, covers up everything but feels light at the same time. Another product that I used back when I got married was Dermablend, which was stickier, but had great coverage too (old acne spots that I have always been sensitive about).
Believe it or not, I also developed a rash a few weeks before my wedding!!! It was in a Christmas tree pattern (pityriasis rosea) - they don't know what causes it, but I was the lucky one who got it just before my big day! I was so stressed about it, as I had an off the shoulder gown. It did go away just in time, but there's a myriad of other things that happened leading up to the wedding. I know I was Bridezilla (ask my sister!) but in the end it was the best party I'd ever hosted, I felt beautiful and loved, and so happy for my upcoming future with my best friend. We've been together now for 20 years, married 14 this year. I'm loving life.
Looking forward to hearing more of your wedding details. Don't beat yourself up over this... I'm sure it will be fine by the big day!
I bet the facial creams are causing the bumps. Maybe stress too. Dump the creams and schedule a 90 minute full body massage. Then after the massage, have a nice long soak in the tub. It works wonders. Trust me!!!!
ACK! So sorry. :(
When we went for your final fitting, I confess to being a wee bit jealous of your gorgeous skin and non-wrinkly face. ;) I hope it clears up before next Saturday, but if it doesn't, your make up person will know what to do.
Humph. I'm sorry. But things will clear up. You'll see. And J is right. There are solutions.
Alpha Hydroxy stuff is very rough on sking! I would stop using it, you still have time, though, for all of the redness to go away!
I agree with everyone, dump the cream. It sounds like it's too harsh for your skin.
Everything will be most excellent on your wedding day :)
Hon, just remember he loves you the way you are. And don't go trying anything else new before your big day.
Mama Bear
Know that your make up person will have magic if you should need it. And you will be a beautiful bride, because so much of beauty comes from that inner happiness that you are already radiating.
