Worlds Collide

As a general rule of thumb, I don't talk much about work her on my little space on the Internets. We all know why so I don't need to elaborate. I have broken this rule from time to time to mention the perks of this company and maybe a little event or two. However I am now going to break this rule again to welcome a new reader.

Earlier this week I was being silly, because that is how things get around the office at 9pm and it's been a long stressful day/week/month, so I walked up behind my co-worker who was happily reading through his rss feeds via Google Reader while wearing headphones and I stared over his shoulder to see if he'd notice. He wasn't noticing and I was getting bored so my eyes glanced over his screen and I couldn't help but notice that he has subscribed to MY BLOG!

I, of course, gasped which brought attention to my too close proximity to his self, and I backed away.

So this post is for Ryan.... HELLO RYAN!

I don't yet know how I feel about these two parts of my world coming together at this point in my life/career, but I suppose I'll just roll with it for now. I mean, what else can I do? I'm the one who mentioned I have a blog, multiple times. It was bound to happen. Perhaps I wanted it to happen. Perhaps I was having another one of those lapses in judgment from ingesting too much sugar, kinda like when I asked one of the managers to 'Dance like a Monkey' after having a hot chocolate late in the afternoon.

My best friends have come out of work, but I haven't quite crossed that socializing outside of the office line for a number of years. We'll see if this turn of events will change what I write.

If there are any other lurkers out there, let yourself be known, so I can welcome you too!

Ooooooh! I bet that was startling to see. I think it could be a good thing for you. I tend to view the people I work with as "people I work with" and nothing more. Reading a blog written by a coworker would probably make them more real to me. If that makes any sense.

What a discovery! Hi Ryan! I'm one of Cherry's blog friends. We met through blogging, but now we're friends in real life, too! Welcome to "Cherry Extract"!

Several people at my job discovered my blog and now I have a fan club right here in town. It can be fun.

I'm tagging you for a meme.

Many folks at work read my blog, but honestly, I think they are kind of bored with it because I don't get all snarky and gossipy about my life or work.

I haven't mentioned the blog to my work folks, and I don't talk about my work (much) on my blog, just in case. But as long as you're careful what you say, it should be fine. :)

My ex CEO reads my blog, though...and I never know when he'll bring it up to someone. So yeah, gotta be careful.

Ugh! Doesn't it give you a shock when you first realize someone is reading your stuff? My stomach always drops wondering what they think, or what I've said.

Lucky for me, I don't work out of the house and don't have to worry about co-workers - I'd really freak then!

Have a great weekend.

That would be shocking! I don't know how I would handle that either. One of my blog friends, had to change her blog a few times because some coworkers got weird about things that she posted. Nothing which was controversial by anymeans, as far as I'm concerned.
I'm sure things will be fine for you.
I have some family and friends who read mine, but I've never really though about what would happen with co-workers. Working from home seems a good option right now... but then I've got little time to blog!

I ain't no lurker...but you know that already ;)

I've found that quite a few people on the small island where I live have found my blog. Whenever they type the name of our island in a Google search, my blog addy comes up somewhere. Needless to say, I've had to start being a bit cautious about some of the things I divulge. I was thinking of starting a secret blog and going totally anonymous. I just don't have the time to start a new blog though. Okay...I'm just far too lazy to start a new blog! LOL!

I had another blog a while back and some of the teachers I taught with used to read it. I think my boss even read it. I felt that for me, it was a bit awkward, because it meshed my professional life with my personal.

That's just my experience though

I don't know how I'd feel about that. I have tried to be selective about who I let have my blog address.
